The Caesars
Sweden’s Caesars have
received the RIAA®
Digital Gold® Award
for over 100,000
digital downloads of
their track “Jerk It
Out” from their US
debut album "39
Minutes Of Bliss (In
An Otherwise
Meaningless World)”.
The RIAA® Digital
Gold® Award Program
was started in August
2004.
The track is currently
heating up the Pop and
Modern Rock radio
airwaves across the
country, and the video
has been added at
added at VH1, MTV2,
and MTVU. Earlier this
year, “Jerk It Out”
was used in the wildly
successful iPod
shuffle TV ad campaign
and hit the iTunes Top
10 list.
The editors at Rolling
Stone recently claimed
in their ‘Hot List’
that, “…we can’t stop
jerking” and New York
magazine called the
track, “maddeningly
infectious”. A newly
remixed version of
“Jerk It Out” is
included on their
current release “Paper
Tigers”, in stores
now.
“Paper Tigers”,
produced by the band’s
Joakim Åhlund and
mixed by Michael H.
Brauer (Coldplay, Bob
Dylan, Aimee Mann,
Rolling Stones) sees
the band take a
confident step out of
the garage. It’s a
lively, layered rock
album informed as much
by Lennon/McCartney as
the 13th Floor
Elevators and Stooges,
and finds the band
entering adulthood
with a mature style of
richly layered power
pop without abandoning
their youthful sense
of taste and irony.
Entertainment Weekly
expounds- “Sounding
more British (and
loutish) than ever,
Caesars have made the
album Oasis haven’t
since Bill Clinton
left office: one
meaty, vigorous track
after another of
modern-Mersey-beat
pop, with credible
forays into twisted
love-garage and Moody
Blues-unplugged
balladry. A”
You can catch them
perform “Jerk It Out”
on Late Night With
Conan O’Brien on June
16.
Hitting the target
with The Concretes
On July 26th,
Astralwerks will
release a U.S.
exclusive
b-sides/rarities
compilation from
Stockholm’s
The Concretes entitled
“Layourbattleaxedown”.
The title comes from
the song "The Warrior"
which is the fourth
track on the album.
All of the songs on
this special release
have existed as
b-sides from the
numerous singles
released in the U.K.,
with the exception of
three previously
unreleased tracks.
Songs like "Forces",
"Under Your Leaves",
"Lady December", "The
Warrior" and "Seems
Fine Shuffle" all made
their way into the
recent U.S. live shows
and radio performances
on KCRW and Seattle’s
own KEXP.
The band have also
just created a brand
new video for "Say
Something New" that
will be added onto the
final album making
this an enhanced disc
as well. "Say
Something New" is the
first song on the
debut self titled
album and the song
currently heard in the
ubiquitous Target ads.
